The seed of this project was planted in 2019 when we sowed some luffa seeds in our family garden in Benicarló, a town in the north of the Valencian Community.
Since then, we have been improving the cultivation technique and especially the handling of the luffa until its transformation into the final product.
AMALUFFA came to life in 2022 and we currently carry out the entire process, from cultivation to transformation, on the island of IBIZA.
They are a type of squash belonging to the cucurbit family, like cucumbers, zucchinis, and watermelons. It is an annual climbing plant that requires abundant heat and humidity to grow.
After this process in the field, the work, always done by hand and artisanally, begins in our workshop.
We cut and sew our products with cotton thread and hemp rope, in order to obtain a final product that is long-lasting, plastic-free, 100% biodegradable, and environmentally friendly.
The packaging we use to accompany our luffas is made of recycled cardboard and provides the necessary information for the proper use of the products.
In addition to being luffa suppliers to local stores and the hotel sector, we sell directly at various markets in Ibiza.
